A typically overcast and chilly day saw a tense battle between playoff ever-presents the Glasgow Tigers and the relative newcomers the Paisley Pyros in one of the most injury-riddled games in BUAFL history.
Paisley started brightly with a solid kick return which was followed up with some strong inside and outside runs, utilising misdirection to great effect to keep the chains moving, but Glasgow were able to adjust and stopped them dead to give their offense the chance to shine.
Strong running from the veteran duo of Matthew Allan and Ronald Gaffin picked up a couple of first downs, but some offensive miscues forced them to punt the ball away. With that, the script was set and both teams ran the ball almost exclusively, picking up good yardage, but miscues and turnovers stalling excellent drives.
The game came alive with 3 minutes remaining however, when Paisley were forced to punt the ball away and Ronald Gaffin took the ball 75 yards into the endzone for a first-rate touchdown. The 2PAT was converted by a Tyler Bennett run and the Tiger D closed out the half by recovering a Paisley fumble.
The second half started in the same vein as the first, with both teams running the ball, but this time Glasgow were called for holding on virtually every play to break the line of scrimmage and were forced to go to the air. This backfired spectacularly towards the end of the 3rd when QB Grayson Lee was picked off and returned to the house by Paisley. J-P Broughton converted the 2PAT with a powerful inside run to tie things up.
More turnovers and key injuries to Glasgow players prevented either side from threatening again before the end of the half and the game ended with NCAA overtime. The Tigers won the toss and elected to take the football to try to place the pressure firmly on Paisley, which they did in style, first with Matthew Allan picking up an excellent 1st Down and then completing a 6 yard TD pass to Grant McAuslan in the corner of the endzone. Matthew Allan converted the 2PAT on the ground to put even more pressure on Paisley.
Paisley started out their possession by completing their 1st pass of the game for a 1st Down a followed up with a succession of run plays, but didn't get much. On 4th and 7, Paisley tried to run the ball and were stopped by a now ferocious Tiger D to close out the game and seal the victory in a memorable game.
